Today I found the error message com.essbase.api.base.EssException: Cannot sign on to domain. Error initializing the ORB. com/hyperion/dsf/api/DsfException in the Planning_WebApp.log on one of the servers in a clustered environmnet. It took quite a bit of digging but after sometime I found that this particular error had to do with a missing jar file (ess_japi.jar.) I will assume this was an oversight on my part and that I missed a step when patching this system to 18.104.22.168.50x. After copying the ess_japi.jar from a working server to the D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\22.214.171.124\lib folder the issue seems to be resolved. Normally this wouldn't warrent a blog post but while planning in workspace seemed to be working fine this issue manafested itself in some strange ways.
